A good saddle is important for both your comfort and your horse. You should always buy a saddle that is made of good leather. It is not advised to buy a saddle with indian leather. Most saddles made with indian leather are made of poor quality.

Inexspensive leather saddles ($100-$200) may seem like a good purchase but in reality they are not. It is much better to either buy a higher priced ($300 - $5,000) name brand new saddle or a lower priced name brand used saddle.

If you are purchasing your first saddle you might want to consider buying a synthetic saddle from Wintec. Wintec makes very nice quality low priced saddles. If you are looking to buy something inexspensive a Wintec saddle would be a good choice. They are easy to clean and lightweight. They carry western and english saddles.

Though higher priced saddles are usually comfortable for people they are not nessesarily the best fit for your horse. There are many companies that offer custom fit saddles. Custom fit saddles can be pretty pricey but your horse will probably love you for buy one.
