It’s getting warmer outside, the flowers are blooming, baby animals are being born. It must be spring. I love spring. It’s my favorite time of year.

When I was I child I spent much of the time daydreaming. I would day dream of all sorts of things but, what I most enjoyed daydreaming about were horses. My favorite time to day dream was when our family would drive through farm land and rolling hills. With my portable tape player and head phones I would listen to classical music and day dream of me riding a horse across the beautiful rolling hills.

Our 20 something year old Buckskin Gelding has a gift like no other. Not only is he the best first horse for my children he is also a wonderful stall cleaner. This may sound bizarre to those of you who have never had a tidy horse but it is true. There are horses that will clean up after themselves.

My mother’s love for horses was no doubt passed down to me. I have memories of her sharing stories of the horse she owned as a child. Sugar was the horses name and it was apparent through her stories that Sugar was too much horse for a little girl. But my mother always spoke fondly of the large red roan mare. If you have never seen a vaulting demonstration then you are really missing out. Vaulting is a beautiful sport in which gymnastics and horses meet. It’s an awesome display of how horse and human can become in sync. Hours of practicing on an off the horse pays off and beautiful demonstrations such as in the video.
