Update: The fundraiser that was associated with the article was headed by Horse Approved only.  Neither Fran Burns or the Washington Humane Society had any association with this particular fundrasing event.  Horse Approved is no longer hosting the fundrasing event. If you are interested in donating to this cause please contact the Humane Society of Washington County (information below).

“Although she lives hours away, Fran Burns of Monkton, Md., said she and three other area horsewomen are on a mission to help the Humane Society and satellite farms care for the horses.”

The recent discovery and seizure of 72 abuse horses has brought the horse passionate people together. Fran and a group of other horsewoman will be heading up a carvan to help aid the Washington County Humane Society.

“We decided we wanted to get some more hay and really fill the barns up, because they’ll be out of hay February 22,” Burns said.

Burns has been posting flyers in her area to find people will to help in the donation of hay. I decided this needs to be a world wide fundraising event. So Horse Approved is heading up a Washington Humane Society Fundraising Event. Horse Approved will be taking contributions via ChipIn widget. My hope is to at least raise $1,000 by February 22nd. But I will continuing the fundraiser until March 29th.

If you are interested in donating to this cause directly please contact Washington County Humane Society:

To donate hay, volunteer for the caravan, help with unloading bales, or offer space for the horses, contact Katherine Cooker at the Humane Society of Washington County at 301/733-2060. Or you can visit Days End Farm for more information.

Please read more about the carvan and fundraiser headed up by Fran Burns at theHorse.com.
